Job description

As a Project manager, you will be in charge of overseeing a team of modellers and Engineers assigned to Structural Steel and general structural projects.

As Alma Engineering has grown exponentially over the years, we are looking to expand our Engineering team with strong and efficient individuals capable of managing ongoing projects.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Managing and coordinating projects with clients and various disciplines.
  • Planning, executing, and maintaining control over projects throughout all phases.
  • Successfully overseeing project performance, addressing both technical (internal and external) and design aspects.
  • Possessing knowledge in related engineering disciplines/fields.
  • Training, mentoring, motivating, and supervising project team members, fostering accountability for assigned tasks.
  • Establishing ongoing and regular communication with project stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Collaborating with associates in different departments to discuss and advise on requirements.
  • Recommending changes in plans, estimating costs, and endorsing payment for completed work.
  • Employing initiative and judgment to address problems, interpret engineering specifications, and coordinate work schedules.
  • Consulting with suppliers or contractors to interpret specifications and contract criteria.
  • Developing and delivering progress reports and presentations.
  • Crafting technical reports and responding to client requests for proposals.
  • Cultivating and managing effective client relationships.
  • Ensuring positive project budget performance.
  • Conducting occasional travel within Ontario for site assessments and site support.

Role Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering;
  • 5-10 Years Minimum Experience (At least two years Canadian Experience)
  • Previous experience with Structural Steel Design or construction is preferred.
  • Registered Professional Engineer with the PEO is preferred.
  • Experience leading and supervising a project-based design team of technicians, designers and Engineers
  • Knowledge of project planning, procurement and construction phases;
  • Experience as the responsible Structural Engineer of Record for complex and major projects is preferred.
  • Experience working independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience working as a sub-consultant to an Architect or Design-Build Contractor;
